Blackie White

Blackie went away at the beginning of October, 2007. Like Frosty the Snowman, he'll be back again, some day.  We hope.

Have a Hukey, Jukey Xmas        by Robert Faires    November 30, 2001

If you've yet to start your holiday revelry and would like a truly Austintatious way to do so, may we humbly suggest Guy Juke's Holiday Cavalcade of Art. The legendary local artist, aka De White or Blackie White, is having a big Yuletide print sale and meeting of the Blackie White Fun Club this Saturday, December 1, at Jovita's, 1619 S. First. Images from his Armadillo World Headquarters days to the present will be available for purchase, so you can pick up a genuine Juke for everybody on your shopping list, then kick back to the sounds of the Cornell Hurd Band. You might even get to hear Blackie croon "Gotta Lotta Livin' to Do," and if that doesn't scream Christmas joy, what does? The fun starts at 7pm. Call 447-7825 for info.     [from the Austin Chronicle http://www.austinchronicle.com/issues/dispatch/2001-11-30/arts_articulations.html]
